February 11, 2009 (FinancialWire) -- America Service Group Inc.'s (NASDAQ: ASGR) (Current Market Cap: US$105.18 Mil.) said that the company's Prison Health Services, Inc. unit and the State of Michigan Department of Corrections have agreed to an initial three-year contract under which PHS will provide prisoner health care services to the roughly 49,000 prisoners under the care of the Department.

The initial three-year state-wide contract will begin services on April 1, 2009 and generate revenues of around $325.6 million, according to America Service. The contract received final approval Tuesday from state regulators.

Brentwood, Tennessee-based America Service Group provides correctional healthcare services in the United States. The company works through its Prison Health Services and Correctional Health Services.

Prior to the start of the Michigan Department of Corrections contract, the company provides health care services in 23 states, in more than 129 facilities at the state, county and municipal level, to over 130,000 patients.
