Free Info Online on Structures and Structural Engineering, IABSE Opens Publication Archive 1929-1999
IABSE is a scientific and technical association founded in 1929. It has members around the world, since its foundation it has its seat ETH in Zurich, Switzerland. The mission of IABSE is to promote the exchange of knowledge and to advance the practice of structural engineering worldwide, in the service of the profession and society.
The IABSE Archive offers a broad coverage of themes, dealing with all types of structures (bridges, high-rise buildings, industrial buildings, sport stadiums, towers, ..), all types of materials (concrete, steel, composites, timber, glass, plastics, ..) and all phases of the construction process ( planning design, construction, operation, monitoring, maintenance, rehabilitation, demolition). A major part of the Archive consists of reports collected from IABSE's Conferences and may be in English, in German or French language. Other IABSE series and periodica are also part of this Archive.
Sophisticated search functions allow searching for keywords anywhere in the full text body of the articles. This will bring many historic reference documents back alive for those interested in the development and achievements of structural engineering. The free access to this Archive is in the spirit of its founders and pioneers who knew no frontiers when it came to exchanging knowledge. A perfect 80th Anniversary gift to the public too.
The digitisation of the IABSE Publications Archive was supported by the IABSE Foundation and has been realised in co-operation with the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology Zurich (ETH) and the Swiss Electronic Academic Library Service (SEALS).
