Attorneys in Legislature facing realities of term limits
(Subscription required) At the beginning of 2021, Assemblywoman Lorena Gonzalez was one of 14 Democrats with a law degree serving in the 80-member Assembly. Half of them, Gonzalez included, came in as part of the class of 2012. This was the first class allowed to serve 12 years in one house before terming out, meaning they will term out at the end of 2024.
