Update: Westbound I-235 traffic shift over Cummins Parkway in place until Tuesday, Nov. 2
GRIMES, Iowa – Oct. 25, 2021 – A project to reconstruct the right lane of westbound Interstate 235 over Cummins Parkway at mile marker 4.1 in Polk County requires shifting traffic to the left on the roadway for a short distance until 6 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 2, weather permitting, according to the Iowa Department of Transportation’s Grimes construction office.
The off-ramp from westbound I-235 to Iowa 28/63rd Street in Windsor Heights will be closed. Motorists can access Iowa 28/63rd Street by going west on I-235, exiting at 73rd Street, and then traveling east on I-235.
The Iowa DOT reminds motorists to drive with caution, obey the posted speed limit and other signs in the work area, and be aware that traffic fines for moving violations are at least double in work zones. As in all work zones, drivers should stay alert, allow ample space between vehicles, and wear seat belts.
