CLEARWATER, FLORIDA, US, May 15, 2019 /EINPresswire.com/ -- On Saturday May 11th, The Way to Happiness (TWTH) Association Tampa Bay held a Mother’s Day Celebration at their downtown Clearwater headquarters. Dozens of families were brought together. Children made large Mother’s Day cards in the shape of flowers and wrote messages relaying how they could help their mothers at home. Each child was given a numbered ticket for a drawing which resulted in each winner receiving a gift from the “mystery box”. Paula Gutierrez, mother of a 2-year-old boy won the grand prize, a giant 5-foot tall teddy bear.

The Way to Happiness Association Tampa Bay cited statistics by domesticshelters.org, noting that 15.5 million children in the U.S. live in a household where violence has occurred at least once in the last year with 7 million of those children witnessing severe violence.

“Exposure to that kind of trauma can harm children of all ages”, said Tanja Cranton, Executive Director of the Way to Happiness Association of Tampa Bay. “It is therefore of the utmost importance to provide a safe place for the entire family to enjoy and allow children the opportunity to express their love.”

At the event, families viewed a short video adaptation of precept #5, Honor and Help Your Parents, from The Way to Happiness book, where L. Ron Hubbard wrote: “In spite of all, one must remember that they are the only parents one has. And as such, no matter what, one should honor them and help them. The Way to Happiness includes being on good terms with one’s parents or those who brought one up.”

Families left the event with their hands full of crafts and prizes.
