SADC-ICGLR summit send delegation to DRC

The delegation is to be integrated by the Foreign Affairs ministers of the Republics of Congo and Zambia, in representation of ICGLR and SADC respectively.
The meeting assessed the political and security situation in SADC and the Great Lakes Region, with focus on the ongoing electoral process in DRC.
In this context, reads the final communiqué, the meeting firmly condemned the violence against civilians and members of the United Nations Mission of Observers (Monusco), carried out in the eastern region of DR Congo by armed groups.
The Heads of State and of Governments of the two blocks expressed serious concerns about the acts of violence perpetrated in some localities during the electoral campaign.
The African leaders also reiterated the need for the accomplishment of the different agreements in the framework of the Pact on Security, Stability and Development in the Great Lakes Region and Framework Agreement for Peace, Security and Development in DRC and the region.
