HERSEY, MI -- Out of an abundance of caution, Hilhof Farm Dairy, of Hersey, is voluntarily recalling a limited amount of its organic line of whole, skim, 2%, heavy cream and chocolate milks because product testing required under Appendix N of the Pasteurized Milk Ordinance (PMO) was not conducted by a state approved analyst. U.S Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulation requires all persons performing laboratory testing of milk to be sold in commerce to be trained and certified by the Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development.

No illnesses associated with the recalled products have been reported.

The dairy products being recalled are packaged in glass bottles and include Hilhof brand skim, 2%, heavy cream and chocolate milk lots with “best by” dates of 10/12/18 thru 10/26/18; and whole milk with a “use by” date of 10/12/18. The products can be identified by the Hilhof label and glass bottle packaging and were distributed to 37 locations in lower Michigan.

Hilhof Farm Dairy is notifying its distributors and customers by phone, in person, and via social media outlets and is arranging for return/pick-up of all recalled products. Retailers and distributors that have milk products included in the recall should pull the products from their shelves for return to Hilhof Farm Dairy.
