NoviFlow and Ordnance Networks’ Cloud-Based Broadband Termination Platform Enters Commercial Deployment
The Ordnance and NoviFlow Broadband Termination Platform extend the radical CAPEX and OPEX benefits of SDN technology, providing a compelling alternative to incumbent BNG solutions.”
SINGAPORE, --, June 25, 2018 /EINPresswire.com/ -- NoviFlow’s NoviSwitches Combined with The Ordnance Broadband Network Gateway (BNG) Offer Network Operators, Cloud Providers and Enterprises Unprecedented Price/Performance in Truly Scalable, Carrier-Grade BNG/BRAS Solution— Dominique Jodoin, President and CEO of NoviFlow
NoviFlow Inc., a leading vendor of high-performance SDN network operating software (NOS), cybersecurity middleware and programmable network solutions, and Ordnance Networks, which provides carriers and the cloud edge with a one-touch, carrier-grade Network platform, today announced that their joint BNG/Broadband Remote Access Server (BRAS) solution has entered commercial deployment for high-bandwidth NBN connectivity to an Australian national ISP. NoviFlow and Ordnance are demonstrating the joint solution live at CommunicAsia in booth #5N6-01.
The Ordnance Broadband Network Gateway is the latest in a family of performance and cost-optimized Carrier Services uniting NoviFlow’s high performance forwarding planes with Ordnance’s next-generation telecommunications software platform.
The joint Ordnance-NoviFlow Broadband Network Gateway solution:
• Combines the separation of control and data planes of Software Defined Networks (SDN) with the resource optimization of Network Functions Virtualization (NFV), turning BNG/BRAS functionality into an on-demand service instantly accessible via an online web portal or API.
• Provides carriers with the ability to offer end users self-provisioned products and services, slashing service delivery costs, management complexity, and the time it takes to deliver new products and services to market.
• Delivers Hierarchical Quality-of-Service (H-QoS) as a key feature of the Ordnance-NoviFlow BNG/BRAS solution, built on NoviFlow’s FlowShaper network processor-based H-QoS and traffic management technology – the same network processors already deployed around the world in chassis-based edge routers costing up to 10x more.
To cater to small-to-medium providers (up to 20000 subscribers), Ordnance has deployed the platform across Australia and is offering an “as-a-service” option. The service offering can be used to extend the reach of an existing network, or as part of a hybrid solution, with a dedicated Ordnance deployment. Ordnance plans to expand this offering into New Zealand and the US within 6 months.
NoviFlow’s NoviWare NOS leverages the advanced packet handling capabilities of programmable forwarding planes to significantly boost throughput, offer enhanced filtering options at line rates of 1Gbps, 10Gbps, 25Gbps, 40 G and 100 Gbps, and support up to 6 million simultaneous flows and 6.5 Tbps of packet forwarding capacity. NoviWare was designed to simultaneously support in a single device multiple network services such as switching, routing, service chaining, firewalling, load balancing, etc.
Dominique Jodoin, President and CEO of NoviFlow, explained, “The Ordnance and NoviFlow Broadband Termination Platform extends the radical CAPEX and OPEX benefits of SDN technology, providing a compelling alternative to incumbent BNG solutions. The platform increases capacity, scales smoothly, and leverages NoviSwitch’s H-QoS and traffic management features, enabling Tier 1 carriers, network infrastructure providers, and enterprises to get the most out of their WAN links.”
David Hooten, Founder of Ordnance Networks said, “Ordnance builds next-generation telecommunications platforms that leverage the latest in network technology to address the challenges associated with the successful operation of Carrier and ISP networks. We see our partnership with NoviFlow truly raising the performance and functionality bar in Virtual Carrier Services. The BNG/BRAS solution is only the first solution in the Virtual Carrier Services NFV family that the Ordnance-NoviFlow alliance will bring to market.”
“The rapid development and advanced feature set of Ordnance’s Next Generation BNG is a testimonial to the design power and time-to-market reduction of a true SDN solution,” said Jesper Eriksson, VP of Sales and Product Planning. “NoviFlow switches deliver the full implementation of a programmable match-action pipeline, which enables the crafting of leading-edge solutions specific for each application space. For an Application Developer like Ordnance, NoviFlow's GatewayMapper controller reduces the complexity of a switch pipeline and exposes services as a simple API call. This toolchain has enabled Ordnance to deliver a state-of-the-art BNG to the Australian market.”
