Angola: Russia confirms satellite launch for December
This was confirmed Monday by Deputy Prime Minister of Russian Federation, Yuri Trutnev, after an audience granted to him by the Angolan head of State, João Lourenço.
Yuri Trutnev, who has been in Luanda for a few-hour visit, described the initiative as a gain for the two States.
In October this year the Angolan Minister of Telecommunications and Information Technologies, José Carvalho da Rocha, predicted December 7 as the estimated date for the launch of AngoSat-1.
As for trade between the two countries, Yuri Trutnev said that they tripled in 2016/2017 period, but he would not specify the figure.
During the meeting with the Angolan Head of State, the Russian official addressed the development of bilateral cooperation, mainly in the military, agriculture, mining and telecommunications sectors.
On diplomatic field, the Russian official expressed his satisfaction at Angola's role in search for political stability in the central and southern regions of Africa.
He also highlighted the partnership between the countries in the international organisations they jointly integrate.
Angola and Russia enjoy cooperation relations in the fields of Defence and Security, Transports, Education, Geology and Mining, Fisheries, Oil and Gas, Telecommunications, Energy and Water.
Yuri Trutnev leaves Luanda this Monday afternoon bound for South Africa.
