LOS ANGELES, CA, USA, December 26, 2016 /EINPresswire.com/ -- Actor Nathan Mitchell, who is known for his roles on The CW's Leo Award winning TV series "Arrow" and CTV's Canadian Screen Award winning crime drama "Motive," recently wrapped production on the upcoming action film "The Marine 5: Battleground."

In "The Marine 5: Battleground," the fifth installment in the Marine franchise produced by WWE® Studios, Mitchell takes on the critical role of Cole, a good guy who is put in an impossible situation. Directed by James Nunn ("Green Street 3: Never Back Down"), the upcoming film stars pro-wrestlers WWE Superstars The Miz®, Maryse Ouellet, Heath Slater, Bo Dallas, Curtis Axel and Naomi.

In the film Mike "The Miz®" Mizanin reprises his role as Jake Carter from earlier installments, an ex-marine who, after serving in the Middle East, returns stateside to save lives as an EMT.

"I'm excited to be a part of this project because it's a fun, action-packed story with awesome fight sequences and great characters. The cast and crew were phenomenal to work with. I had a blast filming it and I can't wait to see the final product," explained Mitchell.

WWE Studios has partnered with Sony Pictures Worldwide Acquisitions to bring the highly anticipated film to the screen.

"The Marine 5: Battleground" director James Nunn says, "Nathan is an extremely hard working and professional actor. He was a great presence to be around during the shoot and collaborative in bringing his character to life. I consider him a great artist and a great friend. I look forward to working together again in the future."

While Mitchell began his career with the recurring lead role of Jeffrey on the popular family comedy series "Aliens in America," he has since shown impressive skill when it comes to taking on action roles, so his role in "The Marine 5: Battleground" will come as no surprise.

Over the years he's wowed us with his combat-heavy performances as Parker in the hit Primetime Emmy Award nominate sci-fi series "Falling Skies," Isaac Stanzler in season 3 of the hit series "Arrow" and others.

Whether he's battling the enemy on the behalf of the good guys, or taking to the screen as an ill-intentioned villain, Mitchell has a way of drawing us into the action and leaving an unforgettable impression.

His dramatic and heart-wrenching performance in the series "Motive" earlier this year, where he took on the lead role of pro football player Russell Bowman, came as yet another testament to Mitchell’s inimitable on-screen magnetism when it comes to drama. Distraught over the murder of his wife, we watch Mitchell’s character go through the painful process of coming to grips with his grief, while also defending himself from presumptuous accusations made by the police.

Though he's undoubtedly revealed his prowess for playing strong and dramatic characters, it's the actor's unmatched diversity that has made him such a unique talent in the industry. His ability to inhabit light-hearted and lovable characters with equal ease, like Zack in the romantic comedy film "Twist of Fate," which aired on the PixL Network earlier this year, have made him an undeniable fan favorite.

Overall, Mitchell says, "I want to create a body of work that affects people on a visceral level. I want to tell stories that are artistic, entertaining and even challenging. I want to inspire people through my work. Ultimately I want to get to a place where people watch my performance and they feel it in their soul."

Make sure to catch the incredibly talented actor in the upcoming film "The Marine 5: Battleground."
