First Lady Michelle Obama to Celebrate Impact of Let's Move!, Announce Updates to the White House Kitchen Garden, and Participate in her Final Fall Harvest

Wednesday, October 5th

The White House * 4:00 PM ET – First Lady Michelle Obama will deliver remarks on the impact and progress that has been achieved, as well as the work still to be done, through lasting policies, programs, and public-private partnerships over the last six years through her Let’s Move! initiative, which has been dedicated to helping kids and families lead healthier lives. Addressing an audience of more than 200 people from various sectors that have championed healthier eating and active living, the First Lady will give remarks next to the White House Kitchen Garden on the South Lawn, which Mrs. Obama planted in 2009 to launch a national conversation around the health and wellbeing of our nation.

The First Lady will also make an announcement regarding the future preservation of the garden and will unveil updates that have been made to the White House Kitchen Garden in an effort to make it even more accessible to young students and world leaders alike. 

 

Thursday, October 6th

The White House * 3:00 PM ET – First Lady Michelle Obama will welcome students from across the country to harvest the White House Kitchen Garden for her final time as First Lady.  Following the harvest, Mrs. Obama and participants will prepare a fresh, healthy meal with ingredients straight from the garden.

To help her with her final harvest, Mrs. Obama invited children that currently participate in Let’s Move! programs (full list below).  These programs were launched in collaboration with federal agencies, businesses, and non-profits to mobilize every sector to help kids and families lead healthier lives. In addition, Mrs. Obama will be joined in the garden by students from Bancroft Elementary School and Harriet Tubman Elementary School who regularly help in the White House Kitchen Garden.
