Empowering #My24Hrs With Technology

/EINPresswire.com/ -- MISSISSAUGA, ONTARIO -- (Marketwired) -- 02/01/16 -- Microsoft Canada gives technology new reason to be celebrated with the launch of a six-part storyteller series released today. The series turns the spotlight on inspiring Canadians who share their empowering stories of courage, passion and community through video and the hashtag #My24Hrs.

"Learning about how technology has helped to empower these six Canadians along their inspiring journeys - is remarkable," said Marc Seaman, VP of Education for Microsoft Canada. "At Microsoft, we've always believed in the power of technology. That is why we've made it our mission to create immersive and inclusive experiences that inspire lifelong learning in students and teachers in and out of the classroom."

Aligned with its founding principle that people can do remarkable things when technology is within reach, Microsoft's #My24Hrs campaign is rooted in the human reality that we all get the same 24 hours. From a family's unconditional love for their transgender teen to a trailblazing educator's alternative learning program where students design, build and market skateboards for a second chance at high school graduation, viewers will be empowered to do more with each day leveraging the power of technology.

"Technology kept me alive for three and a half months, while I lay in a coma," says storyteller Ashley Murphy, a 17-year-old student and Ajax resident who was born HIV+. "It helped scientists create new and better medications to keep me alive and assisted me with my education in overcoming my learning disability. Technology allows me to send out videos and social media posts in an instant, educating thousands about HIV and making life better for many others who live with HIV in secrecy. Now they know they are not alone."

The four-week campaign will encourage Canadians to participate in the conversation of empowerment through the storyteller's experiences and those of the viewers. The campaign closes on Leap Day this February 29, when Microsoft Canada and its storytellers will deliver 24 Acts of Empowerment during the year's extra 24 hours.

Join the movement and share your stories of how technology has empowered your 24 hours with Microsoft Canada at #My24Hrs. The series is available through Microsoft Canada's social channels and on the campaign website at microsoft.ca/My24Hrs.
