I seriously couldn’t believe that after 45 years of suffering that there may be a future for me.

LAKELAND, FLORIDA, UNITED STATES, December 21, 2015 /EINPresswire.com/ -- Deborah Hobbs Maloney struggled through life after developing seizures at a young age. She spent decades dealing with petit and grand mal seizures that surged with no warning. Finally, an accidental viewing of a movie about a doctor who perfected surgeries that could stop seizures changed her life dramatically.

“As I was getting close to finishing my 30th year of teaching I happened to catch a movie on television called “Gifted Hands” about Benjamin Carson, MD. It truly moved me and started me thinking. My husband recorded another documentary about Dr. Carson, a pediatric neurosurgeon. After showing the recording to me, my husband Tracey and I began to discuss the possibilities of the operation. I seriously couldn’t believe that after 45 years of suffering that there may be a future for me.”

Fernando Vale, MD performed the intricate surgery at Tampa General Hospital that changed Maloney’s life. The selective anterior mesial temporal lobe resection of the hippocampus/amygdala made all the difference in her life.

Maloney is now motivated to educate those with both physical and mental limitations how she overcame her problem. She hopes that by sharing her story, others will see that there is always hope. Going from Mud Pies and Jump Ropes to roller coasters and camping has truly been a blessing for her.

This book may bring hope to other people who suffer from conditions that limit their capacity to enjoy a fuller life. Her favorite adage is one that truly hits home with her past, "When life hands you lemons, don't just stand there. Make Lemonade!”

Mud Pies and Jump Ropes is available at www.OlmsteadPublishing.com in paperback and from the author herself. Like Maloney’s book on Facebook: www.Facebook.com/MudPiesandJumpRopes.
