Agreement signed at IBERDROLA’s offices in Madrid

Iberdrola and the Spanish Association against Cancer (AECC) entered into a collaboration agreement today, under the terms of which the two organisations will work together on publicising informative and awareness campaigns with the ultimate goal of boosting the assistance needed for the continuity of cancer research.

The signing ceremony was held at Iberdrola’s offices in Madrid, with the Managing Director of Iberdrola Clientes, Aitor Moso, and the Chairperson of AECC, Isabel Oriol, in attendance.

Under the terms of this agreement, which will initially be for two years with the possibility of an extension, Iberdrola will be involved in publicising various informative and awareness campaigns, targeting not just its employees but also its customers: a total of 11 million throughout Spain.

Joint initiatives will also be set up to promote the acquisition of healthy living habits that can help prevent disease.

Iberdrola will also be sponsoring events organised by the AECC, such as fun runs or marketing campaigns, and helping look for mechanisms designed to reinforce cancer research projects.

AECC, 62 yearsexperience in combating cancer

The AECC is a private not-for-profit organisation with public utility status that has been working to combat cancer for 62 years.  The AECC is made up of patients, their relatives, volunteers and professionals that work together in order to prevent cancer, raise awareness, provide support to patients and raise funds for oncology research projects that will enable better cancer diagnosis and treatment.  Quality oncology research is one of the priority goals of the AECC. It is currently the private social body that allocates the most funds towards cancer research, with a total of €32 million earmarked for this purpose.  The AECC provided support to over 440,000 people affected by the disease in the year 2014.

Iberdrola, committed to society

In turn, Iberdrola reaffirms its commitment to society with initiatives that enhance quality of life: not just for those within its own organisation, but for the general public, as proof of its contribution towards sustainable development.
