FEMP Releases New Water Management Course and Series

The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Federal Energy Management Program (FEMP) presents its latest e-Training core course, Water Management Basics.

This eTraining core course provides a concise introduction to comprehensive water management in key topic areas, including basic water management terminology, the history of federal water mandates, Executive Order (E.O.) 13693 provisions, best practices associated with comprehensive water management, and proven water conservation financing mechanisms and strategies. 

The course also offers current resources and information on training opportunities for further water management education.

By completing this course, learners will be able to:

  • Identify new E. O. 13693 water efficiency provisions in six key areas 
  • Recognize water types and terminology, definitions, and applications
  • Initiate comprehensive water management planning 
  • Consider your financing options to launch and pay for water management projects.

The instructor for eTraining core course is Kate McMordie Stoughton, water efficiency engineer at Pacific Northwest National Laboratory (PNNL). McMordie Stoughton specializes in federal water management, and currently leads the water efficiency team for PNNL.  

After completing a course evaluation and multiple-choice assessment, participants will receive a certificate of completion and be eligible for continuing education units.

FEMP eTraining core courses are designed for federal energy and facility managers but are  open to all individuals on the FEMP Training Search. Courses are hosted in partnership with the National Institute of Building Sciences Whole Building Design Guide.
