Europe and Eurasia: United States-Republic of Cyprus Bilateral Economic Dialogue

On October 7, the United States and the Republic of Cyprus held a bilateral economic dialogue.

Following a breakfast meeting hosted by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce with American companies interested in Cyprus and the region, officials held discussions on a range of economic topics, including economic and public administration reform, attracting investment, educational exchanges, energy security, and commercial diplomacy.

Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for Southern Europe and Eastern Mediterranean Affairs Amanda Sloat and Deputy Minister to the President Constantinos Petrides headed the U.S. and Cypriot delegations respectively. U.S. participants included officials from the Department of State, the Department of Energy, the Department of Commerce, and the Department of the Treasury, among others.

Representatives from both countries reaffirmed their commitment to strengthen economic ties and to further advance shared interests in promoting peace, security, and prosperity in Cyprus and in the region.
