Constellation and Bloom Energy to Develop 40 Megawatts of Fuel Cell Projects
September 2015 - Constellation, a competitive electricity supplier, and Bloom Energy, an energy technology developer, have agreed to jointly develop 40 megawatts of fuel cell projects for commercial and public sector customers in California, Connecticut, New Jersey and New York. The projects will use a patented solid oxide fuel cell technology to convert fuel to electricity without combustion. Each fuel cell, called a Bloom Energy “Server”, generates 200 kW of on-site power. With Constellation financing the projects, Bloom Energy Servers will be available at more than 170 sites, including AT&T and Walmart locations. Customers will be able to purchase the electricity generated by the fuel cells under 15-year power purchase agreements with no up-front cost. Constellation and Bloom Energy expect to complete the projects by the end of 2016.
