Consumers Energy Launches Community Solar Program in Michigan
September 2015 - Consumers Energy is launching a new community solar program, called Solar Gardens, in Michigan. The Solar Gardens program will allow the company's customers to purchase solar electricity generated off-site. Consumers Energy will build at least one solar facility, with the potential to build additional facilities based on customer interest. Grand Valley State University and Western Michigan University have been selected as two potential locations for the solar garden facilities, which are anticipated to generate up to 10 megawatts of electricity. The first facility is expected to be operational in 2016.
