Grady is fun! He is a rabbit- in glasses! Who wouldn't love a rabbit wearing red glasses?
PITTSBURGH, PA.--, UNITED STATES, July 10, 2015 /EINPresswire.com/ -- PITTSBURGH, Pa – Author Dede Faltot Rittman is set to publish her children's book, "Grady Gets Glasses," as she seals the deal with Tate Publishing, a Christian-based publishing company based in Oklahoma.— Charles Callaway, Acquisitions Editor
A fun and whimsical write-up, Rittman tells the tale of a rabbit named Grady who gets glasses and how they help him see the world better. Grady relates to the reader who might wear glasses by explaining near and far-sighted and how wearing glasses makes a person special.
“I had to get glasses when I was just 6 years old, and I remember the first day of walking out of the optometrist's office, shouting to my mother to stop walking, and asking if "regular people" could see leaves on trees and bricks on buildings. Many children struggle with why they have to wear glasses, and I wanted to explain both the work that glasses do, and also that wearing glasses is a cool thing- they help you to see! I was a high school teacher for 37 years, and this script has been in the making for years,” Rittman shares in an interview, when asked about the inspiration behind her children’s book.

Dede’s book is an informational and whimsical read,” Charles Callaway, Acquisitions Editor shares.
Published by Tate Publishing and Enterprises, the book will be available upon its release, through bookstores nationwide, from the publisher at www.tatepublishing.com/bookstore, or by visiting barnesandnoble.com or amazon.com.
Rittman was an English and Theater teacher for 37 years, as well as a Varsity Boys' Golf Coach, spring musical and talent show director, club advisor, and had many other positions at North Allegheny high School in Pittsburgh, PA. She always thought she would teach for 40 years, but when her husband, Scott Rittman, was diagnosed with stage four colon cancer, she retired to care of him. Her husband passed away in 2012.
Rittman decided to finish writing her book for student teachers and the award-winning “Student Teaching: The Inside Scoop from a Master Teacher,” was published in September of 2014. Her love for creativity led her to pen the Grady script and had her former student Lauren Givens Wood do the illustrations.
Although Dede Rittman and her husband had no children of their own, they did have a pet rabbit for 11 years, Binky rittman, who served as at least partial inspiration for “Grady Gets Glasses.”
