SGIP Call for Candidates drives value for membership and secures expertise to the global Grid Modernization organization

WAKEFIELD, MASSACHUSETTS, UNITED STATES, January 27, 2015 /EINPresswire.com/ -- The Smart Grid Interoperability Panel (SGIP), a consortium that securely accelerates and advances Grid Modernization through interoperability and the leadership talents of its members, today issued a Call for Candidates who are interested in serving on the SGIP Board of Directors. The SGIP Board directs, controls, and inspires the organization.

Recently, under the direction of new President and CEO Sharon Allan, the SGIP Board of Directors and Member Stakeholder Categories have been streamlined for efficiency and to enable members to leverage SGIP benefits, and to enhance participation and contribution to the long-term strategic planning for evolution to a smarter grid.

Five "Interest Categories" replace the legacy "Stakeholder Categories" and twelve nominated directors will be elected and seated by April 1, 2015. The Board will be composed of two directors elected from each Interest Category by the members of that category, plus two directors elected "at large" from the general membership. Nominations may come from any SGIP member (including self-nomination) for candidates from within and for that members assigned Interest Category and from the overall membership for the "at large" seats.

Of the nominating process, Sharon Allan states that SGIP, "is striving for a board composed of directors that are industry leaders that can provide strategic oversight to further the mission of the organization."

Nominations for candidates must be no later than 11:59p.m. EST on January 30, 2015. Submissions may be sent by email to the Candidate Evaluation Committee at cec@lists.sgip.org. For consideration, the candidate must be an employee or representative of a SGIP participating member organization.
