Oklahoma State Representative Signed to Publish New Book.
SHAWNEE, Okla. - Tate Publishing announces the signing of local author Justin Freeland Wood and his soon-to-be-published book, which will be released in 2015.
Justin Wood. Rep. Wood was born and raised in Shawnee, Oklahoma. He grew up with a
father who served as a police officer and a mother who served as an educator in the public
school system. Justin graduated from Shawnee High School in 2008. He married his high
school sweetheart, Olivia, and now they have a daughter, Joscelyn Kate, and a son, Everett
Freeland.
Shortly after winning election in 2012, Justin became one of the youngest Vice Chairmen in
state history, when he was appointed by then-Speaker T.W. Shannon to be vice chairman of
the Higher Education and Career Technology committee.
During the interim, Justin taught United States Government to high school students. Rep.
Wood serves as vice chairman on the official Shawnee High School Alumni Association
Board of Directors and as secretary for the Oklahoma Baptist University College of Nursing
Advisory Board.
Justin has worked with youth for the majority of his career, as a youth pastor and as an
employee and volunteer with the Shawnee Boys and Girls Club. Wood has coached youth
basketball, football, and soccer. He was employed by Oklahoma Baptist University for
nearly five years before winning election to the Oklahoma State House of Representatives
in November 2012. En route to winning, Justin won a Republican Primary with 57% of the
vote and the general election 61% to 39%.
Committee Assignments: Vice Chair of Higher Education and CareerTech, General
Government, Government Modernization, CareerTech Appropriations, and Budget.
“Rep. Wood is one of those men who cross your path, and you know he is here to make a
difference. He cares about our state and our country. He cares about the people of
Oklahoma. We are honored to have him as a Tate Publishing author because he has a story
that needs to be told. We want to track this part of Oklahoma history, where he has already
made a mark that will last for years to come,” said Stacy Baker, the acquisitions editor for
the book.
