David Boies, Preeminent Trial Lawyer, to Give Keynote Address at American Bar Association Opening Assembly
Saturday Event Marks Official Opening of 2010 ABA Annual Meeting in San Francisco
CHICAGO, Aug. 3, 2010—David Boies, who was lead counsel for former Vice President Al Gore in contesting the 2000 presidential election, will be the keynote speaker at the Opening Assembly of the 2010 ABA Annual Meeting in San Francisco.
Boies will speak on rule of law issues at the formal meeting launch in the Herbst Theatre of the War Memorial Veterans Building at 401 Van Ness Ave. The event, starting at 5:30 p.m., also will feature remarks by ABA President Carolyn B. Lamm. The San Francisco Boys Chorus will perform during the event, which will be followed by the ABA President’s Reception in San Francisco City Hall.
Boies served as special trial counsel for the United States Department of Justice in its successful antitrust suit against Microsoft. He is currently involved in the Constitutional challenge of Proposition 8, the California ballot measure addressing marriage equality.
Boies has been recognized as “Lawyer of the Year” by the National Law Journal; “Star” Litigator by Chambers USA; and named Global Commercial Litigation Lawyer of the Year by Who’s Who Legal four times; and is consistently named in Best Lawyers, Super Lawyers, and the Lawdragon 500. In addition, he was listed among Time magazine’s 100 Most Influential People in the World, and was the runner-up for Time Magazine’s Person of the Year.
