Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative Amendments: Implications for New England and the Nation

Date: 3/8/2013

Location: Boston, MA

9:00 a.m.-12:15 p.m. ET The New England Electricity Restructuring Roundtable will hold a special Roundtable on the just-amended Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative (RGGI). Among the changes is an agreement by the six New England states, along with New York, Delaware, and Maryland, to reduce the cap by approximately 45%.

Please join the meeting to review the various RGGI amendments and their rationales, and explore the implications for energy markets in New England and the nation as a whole in the wake of President Obama's re-commitment to addressing climate change in his recent state-of-the-union address.

Panel members were all actively and directly involved in the RGGI negotiations and are well-poised to present the changes and their implications for the region and the nation:

  • Commissioner Ken Kimmell, Massachusetts DEP (RGGI Secretary)
  • Commissioner David Littell, Maine PUC (RGGI Vice-Chair)
  • Peter Shattuck, Director of Market Initiatives, Environment Northeast
  • Brian Jones, Senior Vice President, MJ Bradley & Associates A Generator (TBD)

The meeting is free and open to the public with no advanced registration.
