"Geology Kitchen" is a Fun, Educational & FREE Earth Science Resource

/EINPresswire.com/ OKLAHOMA CITY, OK (October 11, 2012) - Explorer Multimedia, makers of the documentary films "Oklahoma Rocks!" and "RockHounds: The Movie" are in production of a new, educational earth science web series titled "Geology Kitchen." The short, fast paced episodes use food, in a kitchen setting, to explain various earth science concepts. Everything from ice cream, to s'mores to cotton candy is utilized to make geologic concepts relatable for a 4th to 6th grade audience.

"Quick edits, goofy experiments and fluid graphics help make these topics more fun for kids," said Geology Kitchen writer, producer and host Devin Dennie, "And using their favorite foods in a great way to grab their interest." Dennie received his Ph.D. in Geology and Geophysics from the University of Oklahoma and has worked on a variety of educational, multimedia projects in addition to working full time in the oil & gas industry.

Episodes range from 4 to 6 minutes in length and can be viewed on the Geology Kitchen website (www.GeologyKitchen.com) or downloaded from iTunes. As Earth Science is all too frequently pushed aside in schools these days, teachers are encouraged to use this free resource to supplement the science curriculum in their classrooms. The short episode length and fun tone make the videos perfect for the media-saturated 21st century student.

Explorer Multimedia is also utilizing social media to make the project more interactive and appealing to students by maintaining a presence on popular sites like YouTube, Facebook and Twitter. Geology Kitchen was made possible, in part, by a grant form the American Association of Petroleum Geologists Foundation. "The AAPG Foundation is proud to sponsor Geology Kitchen to provide visual access to basic geology," said AAPG Foundation Program Coordinator Jane Terry, "Social media allows worldwide viewers to learn about a topic in a short video format."

Next week begins a month long run of all new episodes being made available weekly. For more information please visit http://www.GeologyKitchen.com .
