The UAW and other automotive industry stakeholders will participate in a meeting at the White House on Wednesday, June 27, 2012 at 2:30 p.m.  The event highlights the resurgence of the automotive industry and its success in technical innovation and job creation. A diverse line up of participants will share their perspectives on the success of the industry and challenges of the future.

The Obama Administration's commitment to support the introduction of more efficient vehicles is driving investments in American technology and the factories needed to produce that technology.  This creates jobs in the auto industry while at the same time reducing greenhouse gas emissions and our dependence on foreign oil. The UAW firmly supports the Administration's program to improve fuel economy.

The Administration is clearly responsible for the auto recovery. Although the gains in the Detroit Three are newsworthy, the impact on the parts supplier industry has been tremendous. Nearly 80% of the work in producing automobiles in America is done in supplier plants. The UAW, along with the Obama Administration, is committed to keep this industry competitive.
