Iranian Students Celebrate Nowruz in EMU
Celebrated annually within the cooperation between Eastern Mediterranean University (EMU) and the Iranian Students Science and Culture Association, one of the most important festivals of Iran, Nowruz, was celebrated this year as well. Being celebrated on 21st March each year, Nowruz is regarded as the day of rebirth and arrival of the spring.
The event, sponsored by Kargar Investment Ltd., took place on Saturday, 23 March 2024 at 06:00 p.m. at Rauf Raif Denktaş Culture and Congress Center. Students and families from different districts of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC) who celebrate the Nowruz, attended the event. EMU Rector Prof. Dr. Hasan Kılıç and Vice Rectors Prof. Dr. Ali Öztüren and Prof. Dr. Salih Katırcıoğlu also attended the event.
Delivering a speech during the opening ceremony, Director of the Iranian Students Science and Culture Association in Cyprus Nima Mostafazadeh welcomed everyone attending the event and wished them happiness on the occasion of Nowruz.
EMU Rector Prof. Dr. Kılıç also addressed the participants, emphasizing that the holiday of Nowruz, which has been passed down from generations has been a special occasion that brings people together. Noting that EMU is an international university, Prof. Dr. Kılıç stated that EMU’s student profile has students from all over the world. Wishing that Nowruz would bring happiness and health to all, Prof. Dr. Kılıç wished for a bright and hopeful new year. Following his speech, Prof. Dr. Kılıç presented appreciation plaques to Iranian Students Science and Culture Association Director Nima Mostafazadeh and Kargar Investment Ltd. Founding Chairman Hamed Kargar.
Within the scope of the Nowruz celebrations, Hamid Hiraad, one of the famous artists from Iran, took the stage during the event. People attending the event had great time with the songs performed by Hiraad.
