New Book - How Jill Learned to Read Using Phonics
McHenry, IL - August 26, 2009 -- "Wow Miss Betty I can read!" exclaimed Jill. These are words parents, caregivers, and teachers yearn to hear! Author and educator Betty Davis who resides in McHenry, recently has written her first in a series of books published by Outskirts press. How Jill learned to read using Phonics is a narrative of young four year old girl and her struggles and successes in learning to read. An abundance of creative and inspiring strategies and techniques makes this book an excellent resource for anyone teaching young children to read or to become an excellent reader. When asked why she decided to write a book on this topic, she replied “ to benefit teachers and parents in improving the literacy rate of our children”. Jill now five enjoys reading material two years above grade level.
About the author; Betty Davis has a passion for teaching children to read. As a former teacher of grades k-12 she developed a highly successful program to make reading fun for children and now owns a tutoring company called Funn with Phonics. Davis a graduate of Roosevelt University and has a degree in psychology. Author Betty Davis will be available for a book signing at Barnes and Noble In Crystal Lake Ill on September 12, from 1-4pm.
