President swears in transport minister, audit court judges
The president swore in Ricardo de Abreu as Transport Minister, taking over from Augusto Tomás, fired on Wednesday.
Also took the oath before the President were the Counselor Judges of the Court of Auditors, Presided by Exalgina Gambôa, who replaced Julião António.
Domingas Alexandre Garcia was appointed Counselor Judge Vice-President.
While Elisa Rangel Nunes, Joaquim Mande and Rigoberto Kambovo, hold the position of Judges Counselors.
On the accasion, Angolan head of State João Lourenço called for special attention to the management of transport companies and quality of services provided to the population.
The President mainly focused on the flagship airline, TAAG, expected to start operating soon from the new international airport.
According to him, the transport sector is crucial for any economy and mobility of citizens.
João Lourenço said that he knew of "oversized" companies in terms of labour, having recommended balanced solutions focused on the interests of the State, and the workers, due to their role as heads of families.
He directed the completion of large port, airport and rail infrastructure, particularly the case of the Luanda Railways, in urgent need of correction due to the condition of the line, the main cause of accidents.
As for the Court of Auditors, the President expressed confidence in the new judges’ skill to deal with the challenges for the wellbeing of democracy, justice and the country.
The judges were appointments on Wednesday, under the proposal by the Superior Council of the Judiciary, as result of the public tender.
