New Atlantis Computing VDI Storage Solution Verified as Citrix Ready, Achieves New Price vs. Performance Standard
Atlantis USX Running on Intel(R) Solid State Drives Delivers 650 IOPS per Desktop at $86, Trusted to Enhance Citrix Virtualization Solutions
/EINPresswire.com/ -- LAS VEGAS, NV--(Marketwired - May 24, 2016) - CITRIX SYNERGY -- Today at Citrix Synergy, Atlantis Computing, the leading provider of Software-Defined Storage (SDS) Solutions, announced that Atlantis USX has been verified as part of the Citrix Ready® VDI Capacity Program for storage partners. The Citrix Ready VDI Capacity program is designed specifically to address the storage needs of customers who have already, or are currently, considering implementing VDI.
The Citrix Ready program enables Citrix storage partners to test their solutions against a turnkey "VDI Capacity" environment that contains the compute resources needed to generate a 1,500-user reference deployment. Atlantis tests the Citrix partner solutions using servers with Intel® Xeon® processors and Intel® Solid State Drives. The results from these tests demonstrate the appropriate amount of storage performance and capacity with a cost-efficient design that is verified for 1,500 users.
Atlantis USX, an intelligent software-defined storage solution, increases storage performance and capacity to lower the cost of VDI deployments. Atlantis can help organizations simplify VDI by using less hardware and lower storage cost to as little as $86 per virtual desktop for the 1,500 user solution. At the same time IT can deploy a high-performance desktop capable of delivering 650 IOPS, much faster than a traditional PC. This performance allows all 1,500 desktops to be fully booted in 12 minutes, while lowering the cost per IOPS to as little as $0.13.
Atlantis is also launching a new Desktop Virtualization Best Practices Guide ebook, co-sponsored by Intel, to provide insights from VDI specialists from the storage and virtualization field. Armed with over 200 tips from 35 experts, IT managers and desktop virtualization professionals can learn best practices to help design, build, configure and maintain successful desktop virtualization solutions. Citrix Synergy attendees can pick up printed copies and have them signed by select contributors today from 7:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. PDT at the Atlantis Citrix Synergy Booth #805B.
"As a member of the Citrix Ready program, we were excited to get the opportunity to show the power of integrating Atlantis USX software-defined storage technology with Intel® Solid State Drives," said Seth Knox, vice president of product marketing, Atlantis. "The combination of Citrix and Intel technologies clearly showcases how it is possible to drive down the cost of storage while setting new standards for user experience."
"The storage infrastructure used to deliver Citrix XenDesktop is critical to the user experience, scalability and cost of the entire desktop virtualization deployment," said Jim Luna, Sr. Director, Global Platform Alliances at Citrix. "Atlantis and Intel have demonstrated the ability to deliver a tremendous combination of a low storage cost and scalability, while at the same time providing a user experience that outperforms physical PCs."
"VDI is a write heavy workload that demands the performance, low latency and durability offered by Intel® Solid State Drives," said Chuck Brown, PhD, SSD storage architect in Intel's Non-Volatile Memory Solutions Group. "With Atlantis USX data reduction technology running on servers with Intel® Xeon® processors and Intel® Solid State Drives, companies can deploy a high performance all-flash VDI storage at a lower cost and with less power than solutions that utilize hard disk drives."
