Consumer Alert: Undeclared Eggs in Coconut Bun

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - September 09, 2014 - New York State Agriculture Commissioner Richard A. Ball today alerted consumers to undeclared eggs in Coconut Bun, packaged and distributed by Golden King Bakery located at 90 Bowery, New York, NY 10013. No illnesses have been reported to date to the Department in connection with this product. People who have severe sensitivity to eggs may run the risk of serious or life-threatening reactions if they consume this product.
The recalled Coconut Bun is packaged in an uncoded, plastic bag. The product was sold at various stores in the NY Metro area.
Routine sampling by New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets food inspectors and subsequent analysis of the product by the New York State Food Laboratory revealed the product contained egg allergens, which were not declared on the label.
Consumers who have purchased Coconut Bun may return the product to the place of purchase. Consumers with questions about the recalled product may contact Lai Kueh Chan of Golden King Bakery at (212) 680-0138.
