The Energy Department ‘s Office of Indian Energy, Tribal Energy Program, and Western Area Power Administration will present a live webinar titled “Introduction to Facility- and Community -Scale Project Financing” on Wednesday, August 27, from 12:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time. The webinar will focus on the various forms of financing for smaller renewable energy projects that serve an individual facility or community and will explore their advantages and disadvantages to tribal communities. Speakers include Jason Coughlin, project leader at the Energy Department’s National Renewable Energy Laboratory and Bill Cornelius, formerly with the Oneida Seven Generations project.

September 2: Live Webinar on Building Re-tuning for Energy Efficiency

The Energy Department will present a live webinar titled “Make Your Building Sing! Building Re-tuning to Reduce Energy Waste” on Tuesday, September 2, from 3:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time. The webinar will feature an Energy Department and Pacific Northwest National Laboratory curriculum, focusing on re-tuning both large and small commercial buildings – a low-cost process to identify and correct operational problems that lead to energy waste. Hear from Better Buildings Challenge participants Towson University and Parameter Realty Partners who have employed re-tuning training to improve building performance, and learn about training opportunities through the Building Owners and Managers Association and the Consortium for Building Energy Innovation. Speakers include: Eileen Gohr and Steve Harrison, Parameter Realty Partners; Dennis Bohlayer, Towson University; Benjamin Goldstein, Energy Department; and Lisa Shulock, Consortium for Building Energy Innovation.

The webinar, part of the Tribal Renewable Energy Series, focuses on the last two steps of a five-step energy project development framework and covers key considerations for tTribes that are implementing, operating, and maintaining renewable energy projects. Speakers include Chris Gaul, Tom Harris, and Robi Robichaud from the National Renewable Energy Laboratory, and David Nahai, President of David Nahai Consulting Services, LLC.

The Energy Department presented a webinar titled “Community Solar Scenario Tool: Planning for a Fruitful Solar Garden” on Wednesday, August 13. For the final webinar in the Do-It-Yourself Solar Market Analysis summer series, NREL's Solar Technical Assistance Team presents a new model that was developed to help municipal utilities, solar developers, and state and local advocates perform a "first cut" analysis of different community or shared solar program options. The Community Solar Scenario Tool allows users to see how various inputs, such as system size, location, and project costs, impact the economics of a project from both the consumer and utility perspective.
