Democracy, Human Rights, Refugees: Assistant Secretary Richard Travels to California
Assistant Secretary of State for Population, Refugees, and Migration Anne C. Richard will travel to Anaheim, California, March 15-16, to attend a conference hosted by the Syrian Institute for Progress: “The Voice of the Syrian Refugees.”
The United States, along with the international community, is providing humanitarian aid to innocent civilians affected by the brutal conflict in Syria. The United States is funding nearly $385 million in humanitarian assistance for populations within Syria, as well as those in neighboring countries. More than one million Syrians have fled the Assad regime’s brutality. We condemn the escalating violence that has created this humanitarian crisis, innocent suffering, and senseless tragedy.
