Triventure Group LLC (Triventure), a sales and marketing agency with brand clients in North America and Europe, is asking the Circuit Court of Cook County, Illinois (Chicago) to rule in its favor in its lawsuit to recover millions of dollars in past-due sales commissions from Claire’s Boutiques, Inc. The motion, filed December 24, 2024, asks the court to enforce Triventure's agreement with Claire's and to grant Triventure its attorneys' fees as well as interest on its outstanding commissions.

“Triventure entered into a business arrangement with Claire’s in good faith and delivered on the mutually agreed to goals of the partnership, only to have Claire’s renege on our commissions. We simply are looking for the court to enforce the terms of our agreement and receive the compensation we legally deserve,” said Mike Carter, Managing Partner at Triventure Group.

Claire’s engaged Triventure to market a concept called the “Claire’s Program,” where Claire’s would sell its products in third-party retailers, in 2017. Triventure was successful in placing the Claire’s Program in several leading grocery, drug, and mass-market retailers in the U.S. and Canada, resulting in hundreds of millions of dollars in sales for Claire’s.

As detailed in the motion, Claire’s is acting in bad faith by withholding commissions on several accounts even though Claire’s’ own executive admitted under oath that Triventure fulfilled all contractual obligations required to earn commission on seven accounts and believed Triventure would be paid those commissions.

“Claire’s is legally responsible for all past and future commissions due to Triventure, and we’re confident Triventure will be awarded substantial damages,” said Christine A. Montenegro of Kasowitz Benson Torres LLP, the firm handling the motion for Triventure.

The case is Triventure Group, LLC v. Claire’s Boutiques, Inc., Case No. 22-CH-12181, pending in the Circuit Court of Cook County, Illinois County Dep’t (Chicago), Chancery Division.
