MINNEAPOLIS – Cargill will share new information about Regenasure® glucosamine and CoroWise® plant sterols at the American Dietetic Association (ADA) Food & Nutrition Conference & Expo, Sept. 25-27, 2011, at the San Diego Convention Center in San Diego, Calif. Dietitians attending a special presentation by Dr. Kristine Clark Ph.D., R.D., FACSM, and Dr. Rebecca Reeves, DrPH, RD, FADA, will hear important information regarding Regenasure® glucosamine and CoroWise® plant sterols, which could be valuable for the millions of Americans concerned with joint and cardiovascular health. The media news briefing is on Sept. 25 from noon to 1 p.m.

Dr. Clark, director of sports nutrition at Penn State University, and a member of the U.S. Olympic Sports Medicine Advisory Board, will discuss emerging science about glucosamine’s role in joint health issues, including the latest news about who should consider taking glucosamine. She also will explain the Regenasure brand’s unique attributes, and will review the range of products now available that contain Regenasure® glucosamine.

Dr. Reeves, past president of the American Dietetic Association and ADA Medallion award winner, will review the proposed new U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) authorized health claims for plant sterols, and showcase new products that feature CoroWise® plant sterols. For those new to recommending plant sterols, she also will explain how they work within the body to help lower LDL cholesterol levels, and why the science has convinced many health professionals to encourage the consumption of plant sterols for their patients diagnosed with, or at risk of, high cholesterol levels.

“Now more than ever, Americans are embracing the concept of wellness. It is exciting that ingredients like Regenasure® glucosamine and CoroWise® plant sterols may help them and their families maintain their active lifestyles,” said Pam Stauffer, global marketing programs manager, Cargill Health & Nutrition.
