American Idol Finalist Sports Hope Paige Bracelets For Diabetes
/EINPresswire.com/ WEST CONSHOHOCKEN, PA - May 18, 2010 /PRAvenueNW/ -- Statistics show that young and old alike typically do not like wearing medical bracelets because of their appearance. Not so with American Idol favorite Crystal Bowersox. Bowersox, who made headlines when she landed in the hospital early this season from diabetes, sports a Hope Paige Designs rope medical bracelet on the show.
Hope Paige Designs sent Bowersox the bracelet along with a dozen of their popular "DIABETES SUCKS"blue rubber bracelets after her stay in the hospital to give her a lift. The "DIABETES SUCKS" bracelets can be seen on the wrists of various idol contestants in support of Bowersox. Finalist Lee Dewyze wore one on Wednesday May 12, 2010 during American Idol, while former contestant Tim Urban wore one in previous weeks.
"Teens and young people who are afraid of standing out, can use role models and celebrities such as Crystal to help encourage them to wear medical bracelets," says Hope Paige Designs President Shelly Fisher. "We sent several types of rope bracelets to Crystal and were very happy to see her wear our khaki style 24 hours after she received it." Hope Paige Designs created the rubber style bracelet so that family members and friends can support their loved ones who have the disease.
Hope Paige Designs, a leader in the medical bracelet industry, creates fashion friendly and fun medical bracelets. There are too many young people particularly with diabetes who can end up at a police station instead of a hospital ER as blood sugar reactions can resemble intoxication. "We have parents call us all the time and thank us for making styles that their teens will actually wear, and styles [the parents] can wear too," Fisher says. "We are thrilled to have Crystal wearing one of our bracelets. By wearing the bracelet, Crystal encourages teens to wear medical bracelets fashionably without feeling self-conscious."
These new medical bracelet styles allow teens and adults to feel fashionable and safe at the same time. "[Medical alert] bracelets help when we cannot speak for ourselves. Wearing one on your left wrist can literally save your life," says Fisher.
