April 30, 2009 (FinancialWire) — Norman Knecht has resigned as vice president of finance and chief financial officer at Compton Petroleum Corp. (NYSE: CMZ) (TSX: CMT) (Current Market Cap: US$80.76 Mil.), effective May 12. C.W. Leigh Cassidy will succeed Knecht on that date. In the interim, Cassidy will act in an advisory capacity for the company.

Cassidy most recently served as CFO of Bow Valley Energy, where he directed negotiations with the international bank syndicate and creditors for restructuring the company’s credit facilities, and navigated the company through a strategic review process and company sale.

His career also included completing the structuring and financing of Signet Energy and the strategic refocusing of Household Financial.

Knecht will continue in his position until the company’s annual meeting to facilitate the transition with the new CFO.

Susan J. Soprovich has joined Compton as its director of investor relations.
