Program Launches to Give Back to Wounded War Heroes - Provides Support For Breast Cancer Patients
Candles for Causes to Target Charities
Glen Ellyn, IL - June 27, 2008 - Two extremely worthy charitable organizations are the focus of a Chicago-based reusable gel candle company's fund-raising efforts. Burning Expressions will make much-welcomed donations to The Fisher House Foundation and The Breast Cancer Network of Strength with the purchase of specially designed reusable gel candles. This campaign is called "CANDLES FOR CAUSES."
"The Fisher House program provides families of our wounded military a place to stay at no cost when visiting loved ones in nearby V.A. hospitals," said Marie Piorun, owner of Burning Expressions and mother of a Naval Officer. "They also provide food and other necessities to military families in need. We need to give back to our heroes as they sacrifice so much for us." Burning Expressions will donate $3.00 from the sale of each "SUPPORT OUR TROOPS" candle to Fisher House as a way of saying "thank you."
The Breast Cancer Network of Strength, formerly Y-ME National Breast Cancer Organization, will receive $2.00 from the sale of each "PINK RIBBON" candle. The Network provides support from cancer survivors to cancer patients. They are also committed to offering mammograms, wigs, and breast prosthesis for women with limited resources. "There is no excuse anymore for any woman over 40 not to have a mammogram," said Nancy Amicangelo, executive director of the Network. They rely heavily on donations to be able to provide these products and services.
These candles, which can be reused over and over, symbolize the continued support we need to give our military for all they do for us and also symbolize the ongoing fight for breast cancer awareness and support.
