Charity Gala Announced to Save Maxwell Freed
- Thrive Mortgage and Legend Title Company Join Forces to Raise Money for Young Boy with Rare Genetic Disorder –
DENVER, Feb. 26, 2019 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Thrive Mortgage and Legend Title Company today announced that they have joined forces to raise money for Maxwell Freed, a two-year old boy diagnosed with a rare genetic neurological disease called SLC6A1.
The disease causes a movement disorder, inability to speak and the onset of a debilitating form of epilepsy, along with regression around 3 ½ years old. A group of scientists at the University of Texas are racing to develop a gene replacement treatment. Gene replacement would result in a cure for every child with this condition and vastly accelerate medical advances in related syndromes like epilepsy, autism and schizophrenia.
The Freed family has provided seed funding but must raise an additional $1,000,000 in the next year to advance the treatment from bench to bedside. If the money is not raised, the technology will be tabled due to lack of funding.
The charity event will be held at Infinity Park Event Center in Glendale, CO on Friday, March 8, 2019 at 7:00 pm. To register for the event, go to https://www.eventbrite.com/e/milestones-for-maxwell-tickets-56192628665. All registered participants are welcome.
Come meet and get signed autographs from Colorado Forward JT Compher, Colorado Defensement Nikita Zadorov, Colorado Left Wing Tyson Jost, PGA Tour Canada Pro James Love and NFL/CU Buffalo Justin Drescher.
“We are so pleased to be able to help the Freed family in their effort to save Maxwell,” said Laura Leavy, Branch Manager at Thrive Mortgage. “Maxwell’s Mom Amber is an inspiration to all of us at Thrive and we want to see Maxwell cured.”
