(OTC PINK: HEMP) hosted the Students for Sensible Drug Policy (SSDP) soiree Monday, September 19, 2016 in Las Vegas, Nevada as an effort to support SSDP's movement to provide meaningful resources to Nevada's youth. The SSDP mission has been to mobilize and empower young people to participate in the political process and push for more sensible drug policies in order to achieve a safer and more just future, while at the same time fighting against the current counterproductive Drug War policies, particularly those that directly harm students and youth.

Bruce Perlowin, CEO of Hemp, Inc. (OTC PINK: HEMP) said, "In essence, our industries (the industrial hemp industry and the cannabis industry) are fighting for the same thing... more sensible policies for our industries. Betty Aldworth, Executive Director for SSDP, who spoke at the event, said, "We primarily focus on helping to create healthy approaches for youth to incorporate cannabis in their social life. We provide a vast array of resources including regional conferences where students can connect with other students and work with Outreach Coordinators or 'Coaches'. While we primarily focus on cannabis, we do have some students who support industrial hemp also."

Ms. Aldworth joined the SSDP team in 2014. Prior to her work in cannabis and drug policy, Ms. Aldworth spent a decade motivating and engaging volunteers as a nonprofit leadership professional in Denver, CO. She was also the spokesperson and advocacy director for Colorado's Campaign to Regulate Marijuana Like Alcohol, the first to make marijuana legal for adult use.

One of SSDP's campaign is their "Good Samaritan" policy (also known as Medical Amnesty Policies) which is a life-saving measure which enables "people to make responsible decisions by shielding them from punishment when they call for medical help during an emergency relating to alcohol or other drugs." According to ssdp.org, the "threat of punitive policies can often cause hesitation during confusing and stressful party situations, the existence of a Call 911 Good Samaritan Policy is essential to ensuring that people are able to stay alive and receive help when they are in trouble."

That's not to say SSDP condones drug use. In fact, they neither condone or condemn drug use. They respect the individual right for someone to make their own decision about their own health and well-being. "We encourage honest conversation about the realities of the drug war. We promote youth civic engagement as a critical tool in reforming drug policy. SSDP respects the diverse experiences and identities of our constituents.
