LITITZ, PENN. - Sept. 22, 2016 – Cargill is voluntarily recalling three varieties of boxed chocolate nut clusters, supplied to them by Asher Chocolate Company and sold under its Wilbur Chocolate brand through the Wilbur Chocolate Store in Lititz, Penn.
This recall affects 70 boxes of three different products including boxed milk chocolate clusters containing cashews and boxed dark chocolate clusters containing peanuts and almonds. Each box contains approximately 15 clusters. These products were sold at the Wilbur Chocolate Store in Lititz, Penn., between July 11, 2016-Sept. 20, 2016. Those items are:
- Wilbur Milk Chocolate Cashew Cluster, batch 16070401WH;
- Wilbur Dark Chocolate Peanut Cluster, batch 16063001WH; and
- Wilbur Dark Chocolate Almond Cluster, batch 16080901WH.
Asher’s issued a voluntary recall of a number of its products in early September and amended their recall Sept. 20, 2016 to include these three items shipped to and repackaged by the Wilbur Chocolate Store between June 28, 2016-Aug. 2, 2016. Asher’s routine quality and food safety assurance testing indicated a slight possibility of the presence of Salmonella in their products containing Macadamia nuts.
None of the Wilbur Chocolate products being voluntarily recalled contain Macadamia nuts. However, these products were processed on the same Asher’s equipment used to handle the suspect Macadamia nut products. No other Cargill Cocoa & Chocolate or Wilbur products are involved in this recall.
No illnesses or health related complaints have been reported to date to Asher’s or Cargill in connection with this recall.
Customers who purchased any of these products should not consume them and return any unconsumed portions to the Wilbur Chocolate Store. Please contact Denise Auker, Denise_Auker@cargill.com or by calling, 717-627-7946 between 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Eastern, Monday-Friday. Full refunds will be granted.
This action by Cargill and Wilbur Chocolate is being taking out of an abundance of caution and in the greatest interest of consumer safety.
