Tamara Powell of Arya Therapy Services to be Featured on CUTV News Radio

How do you separate your spirituality from your sexuality? You can’t!
— Tamara Powell
PENSACOLA, FLORIDA, USA, August 25, 2015 /EINPresswire.com/ -- ARYA is a Sanskrit word that has been translated to mean "not ordinary; noble; valuable; precious; and pure." According to Tamara Powell, an integrative healer, counseling should be as unique as the energies in the room: anything but ordinary!

Tamara is an existentialist and the founder of Arya Therapy Services, where she combines traditional psychotherapy and faith-based counseling upon request with modalities that may be outside the cultural norm. Tamara’s ultimate goal is to help each of her clients feel empowered and lead a life that is truly authentic to them.

“Arya Therapy Services was born out of a desire for me to provide a real niche here in the Bible Belt; staying true to what the area holds sacred in terms of faith-based counseling, but also being diversity-affirming,” says Tamara. “I've had piercings or color in my hair since high school. People are sometimes surprised when they first meet me. And that’s exactly why I chose the word Arya for my practice. I’ve always wanted to stay a little different while still offering evidence-based, ethical counseling.”

Passionate about holistic health for the mind, body, and spirit, Tamara has set herself apart as a knowledgeable advocate and clinician in the LGBTQ+, polyamorous and kink communities. She says many of her clients first come to her because they’ve been hurt by the Church and don’t know how to reconcile it.

“One’s faith can either be a tremendous source of support or a painful wound, leading to an increased risk of suicide if that intersection is not navigated well,” she explains. Tamara provides a safe haven for individuals from all walks of life to explore the integration of their spirituality, sexuality and more.

“Man has been a spiritual creature since day one; he’s also been having sex since day one,” says Tamara. “How do you separate your spirituality from your sexuality? You can’t! Clients want to re-conceptualize their relationship with the Divine. My job is to help them walk through that. A lot of what I do as a counselor is bear witness to their pain and give them permission to make another choice.”

CUTV News Radio will feature Tamara Powell in an interview with Doug Llewelyn on August 27th at 10am EST.
