A new herpes treatment based on diluted garlic juice injected intravenously has gained a patent. According to MedPage Today's “Improbable Research” report, inventor Behnam Azizkhani described his newly patented (US 9,089,597) medical treatment (for herpes and other conditions), which involved intravenous diluted garlic juice injections, and which were self-tested. (1)
The patent itself noted that “after reviewing the results from the tests on the animals, the inventor decided to try an IV injection of garlic solution on himself as an initial human trial. The first trial was performed on Mar. 29, 1996, and a syringe was filled with 25 cc of garlic solution, where the garlic solution was made from 5 cc of pure garlic juice and 20 cc of normal saline. The inventor injected 0.5 cc of the garlic solution directly into his vein and noticed a very biting and sharp pain that started at the injection point and followed the path of the vein to the inventor’s heart. The inventor waited several minutes, and then mixed the remaining 24.5 cc of garlic solution into 500 cc of normal saline, and then continued injecting the diluted garlic solution over the course of 2 hours.” (1) The inventor experienced many side effects, such as pain, vertigo, redness, swelling, and more … but also claimed that his invention “cured” him of herpes and other ailments. (1) MedPage Today's “Improbable Research”is research that makes people laugh and then think. Research presented on the site is “real research, about anything and everything, from everywhere. Research that's maybe good or bad, important or trivial, valuable or worthless.”
The Center for the Biology of Chronic Disease (CBCD) recommends that individuals infected with the herpes virus take Gene-Eden-VIR or Novirin. These natural antiviral products were clinically tested, and the results were published in peer reviewed medical journals. This is in complete contrast to many other natural products that make many claims (such as the garlic injection mentioned above) but that have no scientifically acceptable evidence to back their claims.

The formula of Novirin and Gene-Eden-VIR however, was tested by Hanan Polansky and Edan Itzkovitz from the CBCD. The studies showed that the Gene-Eden-VIR and Novirin formula is effective against the family of herpes viruses, including HSV-1 and HSV-2. The clinical studies were published in the peer reviewed, medical journal Pharmacology & Pharmacy, the first, in a special edition on Advances in Antiviral Drugs. Study authors wrote that, “individuals infected with (HSV-1 or HSV-2)…reported a safe decrease in their symptoms following treatment with Gene-Eden-VIR.” (2) The study authors also wrote that, “We observed a statistically significant decrease in the severity, duration, and frequency of symptoms.” (2)

Gene-Eden-VIR and Novirin are natural antiviral dietary supplements. Their formula contains five natural ingredients: Selenium, Camellia Sinensis Extract, Quercetin, Cinnamomum Extract, and Licorice Extract. The first ingredient is a trace element, and the other four are plant extracts. Each ingredient and its dose was chosen through a scientific approach. Scientists at polyDNA, the company that invented and patented the formula, scanned thousands of scientific and medical papers published in various medical and scientific journals, and identified the safest and most effective natural ingredients against latent viruses. To date, Gene-Eden-VIR and Novirin are the only natural antiviral products on the market with published clinical studies that support their claims.
Note: Novirin shares the same formula as Gene-Eden-VIR. The difference between the two is that Novirin has higher quality and more expensive ingredients.
What treatments are currently available for herpes infections?
“Two types of antiviral treatments against HSV are available: topical and oral. The treatments include penciclovir, acyclovir, famciclovir, and valaciclovir. However, their effectiveness is limited. For instance, a meta-analysis of five placebo-controlled and two dose comparison studies evaluated the effect of aciclovir, famciclovir or valaciclovir on symptoms. The meta-analysis showed that oral antiviral therapy decreases the duration and the associated pain of an outbreak by merely one day.” (2) There are also the natural supplements Novirin and Gene-Eden-VIR, which have a formula that was designed to help the immune system target the herpes virus when it is in a latent form.
“We recommend that individuals who are infected with the latent HSV, take Gene-Eden-VIR or Novirin.” – Greg Bennett, CBCD
The CBCD reminds the public that Gene-Eden-VIR and Novirin are not a cure. However, two clinical studies, published in peer reviewed medical journals showed that their formula decreases symptoms in infected individuals. Specifically, the formula of Gene-Eden-VIR and Novirin was shown to safely and effectively reduce herpes symptoms. Additionally, it was designed to help the immune system target the latent virus.
