Smartphone App Bolsters Venue Security with On-Site Provisioning and Validation of Virtual Photo IDs
A Visitor’s Barcode ID is Scanned and their Photo Taken and Stored in the Cloud for Subsequent On-Demand Visual Verification by Authorized Guards.
As an added benefit, each time the ID is scanned a formal scan record is created, including a timestamp and optionally the GPS location. That’s really important for reporting purposes.
BOSTON, MA, USA, August 3, 2015 /EINPresswire.com/ -- The developers of the codeREADr platform, an enterprise-grade barcode scanning app with integrated Web services, today released data-collection enhancements to their self-service platform to help venues and event organizers secure restricted areas.— Rich Eicher Sr.
The codeREADr app for iOS and Android devices can now force app-users to not only scan an ID’s barcode but also take one or more associated photos during the provisioning process. The resulting scan record is then instantly uploaded to cloud-based servers for subsequent visual verification by authorized guards.
During provisioning the app-user can optionally enter the person’s name, company and related information. Together with the associated photo, that virtual photo ID is presented to a guard whenever that same ID is subsequently scanned with the codeREADr app.
The visitor’s ID can be any printed or mobile ID, including employee or subcontractor badges. Alternatively, since the photo provides visual verification, the ID can simply be a plastic or paper card with a unique barcode distributed at the provisioning point.
For convenience, the app’s SD PRO scan engine can quickly and accurately scan any barcode ID using just the iOS or Android device’s built-in camera. If a client prefers, an accessory can be used to scan barcodes when connected to PCs, Macs or Chromebooks. Accessories can also be used to read and validate RFID/NFC tags and cards.
“As an added benefit, each time the ID is scanned a formal scan record is created, including a time stamp and optionally the GPS location. That’s really important for reporting purposes,” said Rich Eicher Sr., Director of Business Development.
Pricing starts at $9.99 per month. A white label version is available for service providers. For further information and a Photo Capture video, please look here.
