FACETS, which are named for the faces of a gemstone, are geometrically shaped wooden blocks that have small magnets embedded around the edges of the blocks. The magnets cause the blocks to snap together with dynamic attraction as the blocks are assembled into models and geometric structures. The magnetic connections between the blocks are easily broken and remade as the blocks are moved into new positions.

The original prototype of FACETS was a hexagonal shaped block based on the geometry of the icosahedron. With the original Icosa-FACETS, 20 blocks can be arranged to form a truncated icosahedron (which looks like a soccer ball). The current model of FACETS is based on the geometry of the truncated tetrahedron and can be used to assemble a number of the larger and more complex Archimedean solids in addition to many interesting models. FACETS work because of their specific geometric shape. When six FACETS are brought together side by side they will snap together to form a hexagonal prism. However, when the blocks are arranged end to end, then five FACETS will snap together to form a pentagonal prism. These rings can then be connected together like the links in a chain in the assembly and construction of larger and more complex models and geometric structures. There is no limit to the variety of creative designs and models that can be assembled with these engaging and entertaining blocks.

The introduction to FACETS is consistent for both young and old. The pieces begin to snap together, this way and that, and then the structures begin to grow and spread out, and fall over. After a while the rings and loops are connected together in larger and larger structures that interlink and hold together. The more balanced and symmetrical the construction of FACETS, the more stable and larger it is able to grow. Just by playing and making connections, FACETS aid with the development of stability, symmetry and balance. FACETS are also excellent for the development of manual dexterity.

The campaign has been very well-received as evidenced by the fact that they have already set and exceeded their Kickstarter crowdfunding campaign goal. The rewards that are being offered to the backers of the campaign consist of various sets of FACETS that range from the basic set of 24 FACETS (for a pledge of $25) up to the ultimate set of 570 FACETS (for a pledge of $500) with intermediate size sets also available.
