Chosen: Queen Moses, Celebrating the Life and Legacy of Harriet Tubman
DALLAS, TEXAS, UNITED STATES, January 13, 2015 /EINPresswire.com/ -- Harriet Tubman (1822-1913) is globally recognized as a role model in the fight for freedom and abolition from slavery. Harriet Tubman once stated that “I had reasoned this out in my mind. There was one of two things I had a right to, liberty or death; if I could not have one, I would have the other.” This is the level of conviction which was needed to enact societal change in the 19th century. Harriet Tubman was dedicated to bringing freedom to many Americans who were formerly slaves. She was instrumental as both a Union General during the American Civil War and the conductor of the Underground Railroad. She was a proud rebel who was the living embodiment of the saying that the greatest form of rebellion is taking over control of your own destiny. When looking at such a powerful historical figure, it is vital that we find a way to convey her story to future generations. Freedom and purpose are gifts which most of us take advantage of without a second thought. Harriet Tubman was part of a fight to make this a reality.
Author Saacha Spade has taken up a project to immortalize Harriet Tubman in her latest book titled “Chosen: Queen Moses”. This book is written from the perspective of someone who had an unwavering commitment to produce a life for herself. The novel contains constant drama which will leave the reader anticipating how the protagonist’s life really unfolded. This is not a slave story. Instead this book takes a serious and detailed look at the severity of the strategies used to keep people separated and divided. This manipulation was planned and systematic. This book covers a highly controversial era which holds many truths which we can use to look at our present society. At its core, this book is inspirational. It is inspiring because learning about how incredibly different society was at this time forces self-reflection. What would we do if we were put in Harriet Tubman’s position by facing oppression in a dangerous time? “Chosen: Queen Moses” allows readers to experience the best and worst of Queen Harriet’s life including all of her traumas and victories. Through all of these stories we learn that Harriet Tubman held fast to an incredible spirituality and faith. The novel will be released on the first day of Black History Month February 1, 2015 in hard cover, soft cover, eBook and audio book.
There is a major amount of demand for Harriet Tubman’s story. As such “Chosen: Queen Moses” is also being released as a film which is being produced by the Chosen 1 Entertainment Group. This film will be a six hour miniseries that will be made without any major studio contribution and scheduled to move into preproduction in the second quarter of 2015. This is important to Saacha Spade so that the artistic vision for this film is not sullied by outside influence. There has not been a tribute to Harriet Tubman since the film “A Woman Called Moses” starring Cicely Tyson. This tribute was in 1978 and many people who have grown up since then have no clue as to her historical significance. The author has the full support and approval of the descendants of Harriet Tubman with the novel and the film. All parties are in agreement that this is a proper and honorable representation of their ancestor. The film will recreate the Harriet Tubman story and express it in a way which has never been done before.
Harriet Tubman’s life has had an impact on all of us no matter our cultural identity. Now we all have the opportunity to celebrate her life as one of the most legendary rebels for
freedom in history. Saacha Spade chose to pursue crowdfunding so that she would be able to hold onto creative control of the project. In order to support her in her efforts, there is a current Indiegogo crowdfunding campaign in place until January 23rd. There are several exciting rewards which help spread the underlying message of freedom associated with this campaign. For 50 dollars funders, they will receive a Be Free Notebook and exclusive updates from Saacha Spade. A crowdfunding pledge of 100 dollars comes with a “Chosen: Queen Moses” tee shirt so that you can show your solidarity with this worthy cause.
